Bench Grinders
Bench grinders are basically a horizontal motor with a spindle at each end. Each spindle holds a grinding wheel made of a material such as vitrified aluminum oxide or silicon carbide. Bench grinders can grind or shape heavy-duty tools made of steel, aluminum, copper and other nonferrous materials. Bench grinders can grind metal pieces in preparation for welding or metal fitting. In addition, a buffing wheel can be installed instead of the grinding wheel. Bench grinders are located in the Metal Shop.

This grinder has a polishing wheel and a scotch-brite wheel on it for making parts shiny and deburring. Please be nice to it - the scotch-brite wheels are expensive and the polishing wheels are relatively fragile.
