A Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) is a type of electron microscope that produces images of a sample by scanning the surface with a focused beam of electrons. The electrons interact with atoms in the sample, producing various signals that contain information about the surface topography and composition of the sample. The electron beam is scanned in a raster scan pattern, and the position of the beam is combined with the intensity of the detected signal to produce an image. Specimens are in high vacuum for conventional SEM.
FamiLAB owns a JEOL 35CF scope originally sold in 1979. The scope was acquired in 2018 and is currently being repaired and refurbished.

How Do I....
Read the manuals, especially 35C Quick Reference below.. John Cope is currently working on digitizing manuals and other documents that came with the scopes. Joining the slack channel and browsing pinned items for literature, and reading that literature, is a big help now.
